New Place with Army Furniture!

Our New Place with Army Furnishings

We are starting to feel a little bit settled now that there is something in our apartment!
We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Army furnishings are actually pretty good.

Hope you enjoy seeing our new place now that it looks less bare...

The front entry has plenty of closet space for our shoes...Koreans do not wear shoes in the house because it's cleaner and the floors are heated.

Husband and I have not gotten in the habit of leaving our shoes or jackets our there, because they get so cold out there! There's no heating in those tile floors. At least with the door, it doesn't cool off the rest of the house.

Gizmo insisted on getting in half the pictures...little camera hog.

Below is the space ship bathtub as my husband calls it...seems awesome right?
Well it is! But it leaks...haven't solved the problem yet, but I believe one of the jets isn't sealed anymore.
Thankfully, Korean bathrooms are set up with a drain in the middle of the floor since they don't typically use shower curtains...sometimes the "shower" is just a shower head/hose combo attached to the sink. We were excited to have two rain-head showers!

When I took pictures, I started at the front door and moved around to the right...so after the bathroom is this bedroom, which will be husband's man-cave and Army gear corral. He has so much Army stuff it's usually easier to keep it separate ;)

Next is a very small bedroom right off the living room which is perfect for me to use as an office and crafting space...love me some scrapbooking and sewing and any other craft I can get my hands on.

It has a door to the "second kitchen," which will mainly be our puppies' domain. The large sliding doors provide a lot of light! And there you see Ellie (the black one) watching my progress.

Here we enter the "second kitchen."

Our realtor informed us this is where you could fish! Yeah first I have to learn to cook fish...thinking about banishing my pepper-loving/mess-making husband to this zone for cooking ;)  He suggested the possibility actually! The floors are heated in here too. Although not as warm as the rest of the living space, the dogs are very comfortable here.
Through the sliding doors is the laundry room.

When you walk through and turn around, you see the rest of the "second kitchen" below.

Tons of storage here!!

One sad thing...laundry room floors are not heated...that we know of. The bathroom floors are supposed to be, but we're not sure it's working...gotta contact our realtor to ask ;)

Most Koreans don't use a dryer, because electricity is so expensive. Thankfully, the Army helps with some of the cost, but I'm going to try and go local - use my dryer as little as possible! Now just need to buy a drying rack...

Walk out of the "second kitchen" and into the main kitchen~

The space is huge! A little strangely laid out as far as where to put a kitchen table. The island/cabinet in the middle is on wheels to it's easy to rearrange!
See the china cabinet on the right? It came with the place :) great place to put my pretties since I didn't bring my own china cabinet.

Brand new stove! American dishwasher! Microwave included (although it's Korean so that is an adventure ;)!
Great big refrigerator! And plenty of storage :)
Oh and Koreans have some cool features in their homes.
Example: See the square on the front-right of the frig? That is a snack compartment that can be opened without letting out all the cold air when opening the whole door!

Oh and drying rack over the sink just makes sense right?

Right off the kitchen is this other bedroom...no closet, which is a little strange. We plan to use it for a guest room so it's not a big deal.
All the furniture we have right now (with the exception of the china cabinet and one bookshelf) is from the Army. It is all simple, boring maybe, but very sturdy!

Family and friends, the room is ready and waiting!!

Right next to the above bedroom and little further off the kitchen is the master bedroom.
Army gave us side tables, 2 lamps and a long 6-drawer dresser. We packed our air mattress in one of our 8 suitcases, because it's very comfortable and the rest of our furniture will arrive soon I'm sure :)

Please excuse the mess...air mattresses are hard to keep the sheets on ;) so not my fault...

To the right in the master bedroom is this dressing space, which is awesome!
It has a vanity are with outlets and tons of storage all along the right side.
Don't even need the storage under the sink! ...but I could use some baskets or bins to put things in...oh well, they're coming :)

Gotta say...struggling with the shower. Haven't found the magic touch to keep the shower from being either scalding hot or ice cold...well practice makes progress!
Now if we can figure out how to get those floors heating, it will be perfect ;)

Coming out of the master bedroom and turning right, here is the living room and what we have made the dining space. I love rearranging furniture, though, so it may be somewhere new next week!
Across the room you see the front door and bathroom to the left.

So much space!!

The darker portions of the wall seen below are the windows to a huge deck (well huge for Korea ;).
Most days I have all the curtains pulled back, and I spend time enjoying the partial sun.
There aren't many full-sun days in Korea. Lots of partly cloudy ;) better than rain and mild winter helps!

The couches are green (hard to tell, I know) with brown and beige swirls. They are pretty comfortable and lets be honest...super excited to be sitting on anything! And with a TV included with the apartment, we are happily entertained in the evenings.

I really like the open floor plan and being able to see most of the apartment from every room.
The yellow wallpaper behind the TV will take some getting used to...I'm not usually that into yellow ;)

Gizmo just loves the camera!

So comfortable and I hope you have enjoyed the tour!

Can't wait to get the rest of our stuff ;) and a rug to cut down on the noise our puppies make when wrestling. haha
